"How to disable the Autorun functionality in Windows"

dulo radi-net pernah ajar macam mana nak turn off the autoplay ni.

penting ke nak turn off autoplay ni? heh, macam penting sebab this

can prevent virus autorun from removable drives been spreading to

our lappy's system. that's for short, hee lagi details boleh refer to mr.

nice guy, encik google: what is autoplay in windows? heh, wahaha!

ok, now. how?

based on the above article, i've experimented two methods in my lappy.

alhamdulillah, so far so good so what? kui3x. ok, i just copy+paste the

important steps here. heh, memang ikut seratus peratus tanpa keraguan.

Method I

1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
   
   
   If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
2. Under Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, and then click Autoplay Policies.
3. In the Details pane, double-click Turn off Autoplay.
4. Click Enabled, and then select All drives in the Turn off Autoplay box to disable Autorun on all drives.
5. Restart the computer.

* done. the steps can easily be followed without any risks. insyaallah. hehe :$

Method II

* method ni macam adventorous siket. sebab perlu main dengan registry value. tapi before proceed with these steps ada baiknya buat backup or create restore point dulo. heh, just in case. if tersilap langkah, boleh restore back the registry to its previous state. wahaha. mula-mula memang takut nak cuba. tapi bila tanya pendapat si pakar and si pakar said that "to learn, take risk and proceed", so i just proceed coz' i wanna learn kan. so i dare myself to take a risk!

*phew, alhamdulillah. the 1st trial attempt went well. just carefully follow exactly the steps below as listed in that article. hehe, remember. this setting is permanently there once u've modified the registry values.

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following entry in the registry:
   
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun
3. Right-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun, and then click Modify.
4. In the Value data box, type 0xFF to disable all types of drives. Or, to selectively disable specific drives, use a different value as described in the "How to selectively disable specific Autorun features" section.
5. Click OK, and then exit Registry Editor.
6. Restart the computer.

yeay!

now u dont have to worry about the autorun virus

that commonly comes from the pendrive/external

removable drives that been plugged into the usb.
